The Bob Standard takes the Great American Songbook as the inspiration for freewheeling, experimental improvisations that stretch and reshape the form and content of these compositions while remaining true to their spirit. Members Bob Stevenson, clarinet, Justin Haynes, guitar, Victor Bateman, bass and Blair Mackay percussion bring a wide variety of experience (April Wine, Arraymusic, Vector, The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band, Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan amongst many others) along with wit and skill to present these old chestnuts in an entirely new light.
Their first CD Out Of Nowhere, will be released on Urban Meadow June 8, 2011 at the Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto.
